John started his career in accountancy before joining Mars where he first learnt sales and marketing techniques. He moved to Akai as Field Sales Manager and later joined Harman International as UK Sales Manager where he was subsequently promoted to UK Sales Director.
In 1982 John was appointed Managing Director of Ortofon UK and, after seven years, left to form his own management consultancy, JR Associates.
In 1996 he became a major shareholder and director of Alphason Designs which was sold to a PLC in 2006. Shortly afterwards he founded Big Red Sales (see page 1 of the "NEWS" section of this website to read John's "Problem Solver" article).
Following an excellent start to his career in the FMCG sector, James moved into the Consumer Electronic Industry, working for Philips as Sales Director of the Domestic Appliances and Personal Care division. He has held senior commercial roles in Vodafone, GlaxoSmithKline and Bayer.
James was head hunted to form Vogel's UK Ltd as Country Manager in 2009. 4 years later he established his own distribution company Turnstone AV Ltd, and is the exclusive importer for Vogel's in the UK.
Niels has an extensive international background inside audio. He started as Export Manager at the Danish Hearing Aid company Danavox. He then joined Ortofon, where he became Director of Sales & Marketing Globally before moving to Harman International, where he became President of the International Division of the consumer group.
After leaving Harman, Niels became Part-owner & Chairman of the Board of the Danish Speaker Company, ScanSpeak. He participated in the sale of this company to Chinese investors.
Niels is also involved in Digital Marketing in the global leading company Vertic A/S as a Partner & Vice Chairman of the Board.
Malcolm has 40 years experience in the electrical retail trade in a variety of senior roles. He is a retail consultant advising retailers, distributors and manufacturers on strategy and management issues.
He spent ten years as a council member of RETRA, serving as President in 2002, and sits on the judging panel for the ERT Awards. He is well known throughout the CE Industry for his professionalism and integrity.
Colin is a design, merchandising and marketing specialist and remains the Founder Director of M4 Design, the company he started in 1976.
He started his career in advertising and moved to Hoover as Design Manager before joining Barclays Bank International as Merchandising Officer where he was responsible for handling major sponsorships.
M4 Design has worked continually in the consumer electronics industry for more than 35 years, working in association with major brands such as Rowenta, Hoover, Euronics, Admiral, Philips, Maytag, Alphason Designs, Hitachi, Canon, Samsung, Sony, Sharp and Vogel's.
Adrian has over 20 years of industry experience. Started his career in Hong Kong spending 8 years with ODM/OBM, manufacturers of Audio, Consumer Electronics and Mobile Telecoms. In 2003 he returned to the UK to become Sales Director at Binatone Telecom Ltd, where he led significant growth in challenging markets, creating and launching new brands and product categories within his time there.
In 2012 Adrian created his own consultancy company Algint Ltd, to work with companies from Europe and the Far East, launching their brands into the UK market, managing marketing, sales and finding/working with local distributors.
Terry joined Big Red Sales in September 2012 bringing with him 24 years financial and secretarial experience from Champion Sparking Plug Company where he was subsequently promoted to the Board as Director and Company Secretary.
Following this Terry had 20 years experience in consumer electronics retailing as a partner and then Managing Director of B&B Hi-Fi which at the peak employed 35 staff with an annual turnover in excess of £6 million.
